Asian security perception

Western civil society, barring the fringe of individual cases of conscientiousness and righteousness, appears to be spiritually barren and morally bankrupt. Sadism and schadenfreude is the hallmark of this society. That is why it does not feel moved and worried when innocent people in Asia and Africa get consumed in mayhem and carnage. People of Palestine and Kashmir have been writhing with trauma caused by perpetual and unabating repression and tyranny perpetrated by the forces of occupation. The 60- year trauma tale is, in fact, ineffable. American and NATO forces subjugated Iraq and Afghanistan and through carpet-bombing killed hundreds of thousands of people; and cities and towns were destroyed and razed to rubble. People in these two hapless countries continue to be a victim of ruthless bombing. While raising the bogey of terrorism and chasing the “terrorists` in nook and corner of these countries the alien forces are ideally engaged in a systematic campaign of genocide and homicide. And now as spillover the Pakistani and Indian cities are falling a prey to this typhoon of `terrorism`. The violent upheaval will eventually engulf China, Russia, Iran and central Asian countries. Violence has already taken its toll in Nepal, Srinlanka and thirteen states of India where Maoists and Naxalites are ruling the roost. It is not the `terrorists` the alien forces are looking for. It is, in fact, the presence of huge oil and gas reserves in Iraq, Iran, Caspian sea and central Asian states which allures them for a scramble camouflaged by the slogan `war on terror`. Afghans were regarded as Mujahideen by Western powers when they were determined to take on erstwhile Soviet Union in Afghanistan in eighties. After the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan these valiant and committed Mujahideen were unceremoniously jettisoned by the West. Instead of coming to their rescue in the hour of crisis for a gigantic programme of relief and rehabilitation political turmoil and internecine war among the warring factions was triggered off using all the modes of manoeuvre. Who is responsible for the commotion and turbulence in Asian countries especially Iraq and Afghanistan? It is presence of Western forces in Iraq and Afghanistan which is the real problem. Let alien forces be withdrawn from these countries and the people of these countries adopt a democratic way of life for their bright and prosperous future.

Whether it is `Asian security-perception` or `Asian-security perception`, the caption is ideally fine both ways. Let the great leaders of Asia start thinking indigenously in terms of self-defense as Asian corporation. Bilateral issues can be sorted out and settled decently while prioritizing the higher agenda i.e. security of Asia. Leaders with chauvinistic and fascist approach to life and politics cannot understand the exigency of Asian initiative for the security of Asia. Well the emancipated leaders with political acumen and visionary approach to life are available. They have only to assert collectively to create a political deterrent against the onslaught of the West. They have to learn a lesson for themselves from European Union. They have to address the dissent within. They should bury the hatchet for good if at all Asia is to be saved from total anarchy, upheaval and devastation. Mediocrity and egocentricity is no answer to the crisis the Asian countries are facing in Asia. The resolute leaders with a futuristic approach should work in unison to extricate Asia from the whirlpool and vortex of uncertainty created by the Western intervention in various countries of Asia.

India and Pakistan, as the responsible democracies of South Asia have to play an important role in salvaging Asia from turbulence and turmoil. If the two countries succeed in solving the outstanding Kashmir issue peacefully keeping, of course, the freedom aspirations of Kashmiris in view Indo-Pak reconciliation can become confederation of friends while keeping their sovereign status intact. Basically it is the union of hearts which is paramount. Leaders of the two countries have necessarily to behave as family members when it comes to addressing the security issues of Asia as a continent. And Kashmir, while seeking an honourable status for itself through right to self-determination, can become a party to the process of broader reconciliation within Asian nations. Yes, this is what Kashmir is expected to do after this enslaved and beleaguered land is completely demilitarized by India and Pakistan. Kashmir can become a bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan in particular and Asian countries in general.

Prophet Jesus Christ and Moses (peace be upon them) had not asked their followers to ration right to life like food and vegetables while ruling over people. Brother Bush and Brother Obama should try to understand that God is not rationing air, water and sunlight. You have to be as generous and magnanimous as God while dealing with global issues. Right to life should be derationed. Asian people are as great as the people of America and Europe.
